Hollywood Producer J. Herbert Klein Set to Publish Insider Memoir Just Months Before His 90th Birthday

LOS ANGELES, April 12, 2011 — Hollywood producer J. Herbert Klein sometimes marvels at his incredible journey. "My life happened to me, and I still find it hard to believe."

How many people can say their work had a direct link to the end of a world war? How many could count a future president as mentor and guide? How many could say they'd worked for the richest man in the world? How many could propose that their inventions proved UFOs are real?

Sound far out? Soon people can read all about Klein's strange-but-true experiences in BEYOND HOLLYWOOD: A MEMOIR OF FATE, LUCK, THE UNEXPLAINED, AND LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM. The book will feature nearly 100 photos – including amazing shots of unexplained phenomena.

Throughout his life, Klein has often felt the hand of fate moving him in particular directions. He has frequently landed in the right place at the right time — and then applied himself to make the most of his opportunities.

His first big break occurred in 1942, when he was a 21-year-old Army private and found himself reporting to Captain Ronald W. Reagan, who put Klein in charge of a critical project that played a significant part in the eventual end of WWII.

After the war, Klein got a lucky break when Howard Hughes gave him the chance to produce DEATH OF A SCOUNDREL in what would become the final film the mogul financed. The movie, considered a film noir classic, featured the work of three Oscar winners — actor George Sanders, cinematographer James Wong Howe, and composer Max Steiner.

The "unexplained" portion of Klein's story started in the 1960s, when he established a business partnership with film-star-turned-inventor Jon Hall. With Hall, Klein developed radical inventions, including a camera he believed could photograph the invisible – UFOs, alien life forms, energy fields, and other unexplained phenomena.

"I have truly lived the American dream," Klein says. "This country has given me tremendous opportunities, and I've done my best to make the most of them."

Klein's memoir, BEYOND HOLLYWOOD, will be available in May 2011. He is also the author of RONALD REAGAN'S ROAD TO THE WHITE HOUSE, which has received 5-star ratings on Amazon.com:
