High Performance Building Expert Daniel H. Nall Joins Syska Hennessy Group's New York Office

Industry Veteran to Provide Expanded Leadership for the Firm's High Performance Design Innovation

NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Syska Hennessy Group, Inc., a global consulting, engineering and commissioning firm, is announcing that prominent industry thought leader Daniel H. Nall, P.E., FAIA, ASHRAE Fellow, LEED Fellow, HDBP, BEMP, has joined the company's New York office as a Vice President and Regional Director of High Performance Buildings. Mr. Nall will collaborate closely with Robert Bolin, PE, LEED Fellow, ASHRAE HBDP, focusing on oversight of high performance building design initiatives on projects around the globe. He represents another key component of the continued growth of the Syska Hennessy Group organization.

A widely recognized high performance design and sustainability professional, Mr. Nall is both a registered architect and registered professional engineer with close to four decades of industry experience. He served in a variety of roles throughout his career, including building science researcher, building energy engineering consultant, design mechanical engineer, educator, and sustainability consultant.

Mr. Nall brings a genuine understanding of high performance design to Syska Hennessy Group and is a recognized expert at several emerging technologies for high performance green buildings. The American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Board of Directors recently named Mr. Nall a Fellow of the organization, which follows his election to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (2003) and his election to the first class of LEED Fellows (2011) by the U. S. Green Building Council. He is the first person to be named a Fellow of all three of these organizations.

He has had substantial engineering involvement in numerous projects around the world including the Newseum in Washington, DC, the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, the Goldman Sachs Headquarters in New York, the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, AR, and the U. S. Embassies in Sofia, Bulgaria, Cape Town, SA, and Kathmandu, Nepal. He has also led the engineering of significant building renovation projects, including the renovation of the International Monetary Fund Headquarters in Washington, DC and the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.

Other LEED Platinum projects he has overseen include the Godrej Corporate Headquarters in Mumbai, India, the SAP Americas Headquarters Expansion in Newtown Square, PA, the BASF U.S. Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ and the American Audubon Society Headquarters in New York. He was also the systems integrator for the 342 kW photovoltaic array on the roof of the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, the venue for the 1996 Olympic swimming and diving competition.

He has published extensively, including more than 35 peer-reviewed papers in a variety of journals. Mr. Nall speaks frequently at professional conferences and conventions, including ASHRAE, AIA, American Solar Energy Society and the U S Green Building Council, and has been recognized with numerous professional honors for his contributions to the industry.

Mr. Nall has a bachelor's degree in English literature from Princeton University in N.J., and a bachelor's degree in architecture from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. In addition to graduating from Princeton, he has served as a Lecturer at the Princeton University School of Architecture. He has also served on the faculties of Cornell University, Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture.
