Grammy Award-Winning Musician Carl Jackson Nominated for Three 2013 International Bluegrass Music Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Nominees for the 2013 International Bluegrass Music Awards were announced recently at a press conference at Nashville's Loveless Barn, with Multiple IBMA and Grammy Award winner Carl Jackson receiving three nominations. Jackson has won five previous International Bluegrass Music Awards including Song of the Year in in 1990 for "Little Mountain Church", Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver (artists), Jim Rushing & Carl Jackson (songwriters).

Carl's latest project, Grace Notes available on iTunes, is an inspired guitar instrumental portrait of dearly loved hymns. Recorded using a collection of rare acoustic guitars, some dating back to mid-1800s, features Jackson's own voice telling the "story" behind each instrument.

Awards are voted on by the professional membership of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Results of the balloting will be revealed at the International Bluegrass Music Awards on Thursday, September 26, hosted by the Steep Canyon Rangers. The Awards Show is the centerpiece of World of Bluegrass Week (#WOB13), to be held September 24 – 28 in Raleigh, NC.

The IBMA Awards Show will be broadcast live on Sirius XM Satellite Radio (Bluegrass Junction) and syndicated to more than 300 U.S. markets and 14 foreign networks. IBMA – the International Bluegrass Music Association – is the professional trade organization for the global bluegrass music community.

About Carl Jackson:

Multiple Grammy Award winner Carl Jackson was born in Louisville, Mississippi in 1953 and hit the stage at fourteen landing a job with bluegrass greats, Jim & Jesse. At eighteen he joined the legendary Glen Campbell for 12 years.

Jackson has written songs performed by Glen Campbell, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Pam Tillis, Trisha Yearwood, Joe Diffie, Diamond Rio, Brad Paisley, and hundreds of others. He received his first Grammy in 1991 for the album with John Starling, "Spring Training" featuring Emmylou Harris.

Carl's 2003 production entitled "Livin', Lovin', Losin' – Songs of the Louvin Brothers" won the Grammy for Country Album of the Year.
