Global Connect Receives SIF Certification

Industry standard allows easier integration with school information systems, while automated voice broadcasting system allows easier communication with parents and staff.

MAYS LANDING, N.J., Jan. 30, 2008 — Global Connect, the leading provider of telephone voice broadcasting and notification services, announced today it has received Schools Interoperability (SIF) certification for its Parent Notification System. A technical standard for school information systems, SIF makes it possible for different programs and systems within a school or district to share data without additional programming.

Global Connect's Parent Notification System is typically required to communicate with school systems to support automated attendance calling, automated student database updates, and other features. For school systems that support SIF, Global Connect can implement secure communication simply by adding its SIF agent to the school system.

In addition to SIF tools, Global Connect continues to provide its existing API for integrating with external systems such as staff or faculty databases. "We've always been able to integrate with our customers' systems, but the SIF tools provide an additional path that makes integration even easier," said Adrian Patten, Global Connect's Chief Technology Officer. "Now it's easier than ever for schools to communicate with parents, faculty and staff using the Global Connect Parent Notification System."

While some vendors have certified only a relatively small portion of their system, Global Connect's SIF certification covers a broad range of features, which means that the Parent Notification System can support and integrate with all major SIF-compliant features found in typical school information systems.

As a result of receiving the SIF certification, Global Connect is entitled to display the SIF logo on its web site at http://www.gc1.com. Visitors can click on the SIF logo to review the certification report.

The SIF standard and certification is administered by the Schools Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA), a nonprofit membership organization comprised of software vendors, school districts, state departments of education, and other organizations active in primary and secondary (K-12) markets.
