Free Dating Website We First Met Adds New Privacy Controls for Sharing Photos on User Profiles

RESTON, Va., June 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — We First Met (WeFirstMet.com), a 100% free dating website, has added a new privacy feature for sharing user photos. Photos on the user's profiles can be marked as public or private, allowing users to control who can or cannot view their photos.

Users will have the ability to choose a set of private photos that are only viewable to certain people and hidden to others. Unless you are viewing your own photos, it is indistinguishable whether or not private photos are being hidden or shared. "You can basically make a photo private and allow certain people to see that photo without them knowing you are sharing it with them," said founder Enoch Lee. "This gives the user some anonymity on how they choose to control their privacy since only the user will be able to distinguish which of their own photos are public or private."

When someone sends a message to another person, they will have the option to share their private photos with that person. As a result, users can limit the visibility of their photos to just the people they have communicated with on We First Met.

"Most online dating sites do not focus on giving the user any privacy controls. The photos you upload to your profile will usually be shared with everyone," said Founder Enoch Lee. "We First Met gives our users the ability to improve their privacy and we plan on implementing more privacy options in the future. This, like all of our features, is available for free to our members."

We First Met has also added a "best photo" feature that allows people to select which picture is their favorite of that person's set of photos. This allows the user to see which of their photos are the most popular.

We First Met is an online dating community used to create social groups, organize events, and post conversation starters and date ideas. We First Met's primary goal is to get people talking and meeting up in person.

One of the company's most popular features is "Viewed Me Plus." It allows users to see a list of matches who are more apt to have a medium to high level of interest in their profile. The algorithm used behind this is based on several factors, and the person simply viewing the profile is just one of them. Others factors include both user's search preferences and profile settings.
