Florida Tech's MBA in Project Management Receives Distinguished PMI® GAC Accreditation

Recognition from World's Leading Project Management Accrediting Body Offers a Variety of Benefits to University and Students

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 7, 2011 — Confirming that the quality of Florida Tech's MBA with a specialization in Project Management meets a comprehensive international standard, the program is now accredited by the Project Management Institute's Global Accreditation Center (PMI® GAC). This honor demonstrates alliance with the world's largest project management association, providing access to an exclusive academic community and showcasing the university as a superior project management educator.

PMI® is the world's leading not-for-profit project management membership association, with over half a million members in more than 185 countries. In 2001, in response to unprecedented growth in the profession, PMI® developed the GAC to establish a set of formal standards for project management education programs, and set a goal of accrediting each institution that met them.

Students benefit greatly from GAC-endorsed programs. They learn the latest developments, and because employers recognize the higher skill levels of students from these programs, they're more likely to land jobs and promotions. In addition, graduation from a GAC-accredited program qualifies students for 1,500 project management experience hours, nearly 1/3 of the requirement for the sought-after PMP® credential – the highest project management certification possible. Possession demonstrates leadership abilities, and according to the 2009 international PMI® Project Management Salary Survey – Sixth Edition, it can result in salary increases of up to 10%.

"Demand for project managers is at an all-time high, and we're thrilled to offer a project management online program that is GAC accredited," said Dr. S. Ann Becker, Dean of the Nathan M. Bisk College of Business. "Florida Tech strives to provide the highest-quality education, and this accreditation is recognition of that."

The MBA in Project Management is available 100% online, through an e-learning system powered by University Alliance, the largest facilitator of online learning in the country. Students can interact with faculty and classmates, view streaming lectures and download them to study on the go.
