Nominees elected to the Hall of Fame will be inducted at a ceremony in Tampa next fall
TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Florida Inventors Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for 2015 for inventors whose achievements have advanced the quality of life for Floridians, the State of Florida, and the United States. The deadline to submit nominations is March 2, 2015.

"This year will mark the second annual nomination process to select the 2015 inductees for the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame," said Paul R. Sanberg, chair of the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame Advisory Board and president of the National Academy of Inventors. "Our state has many great inventors and we look forward to honoring our second class of inductees next fall."
Six distinguished Florida inventors were inducted into the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame at the organization's inaugural induction ceremony and gala in September 2014, including Thomas Edison (who had a winter home and laboratory in Fort Myers), refrigeration and air conditioning pioneer Dr. John Gorrie, Gatorade inventor Dr. Robert Cade, high definition imaging expert Dr. William Glenn, liquid crystal researcher Dr. Shin-Tson Wu, and nanotechnology scientist Dr. Shyam Mohapatra.
Nomination to the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame is open to all Florida inventors (living or dead) who have been residents of Florida and completed a substantial amount of their inventive work while living and/or employed in the state. The nominee must be a named inventor on a U.S. patent issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The impact of the inventor and his or her invention should be significant to society as a whole, and the invention should have been commercialized, utilized, or led to important innovations.

Nominations are reviewed by a selection committee comprising experts in relevant fields of innovation. The inventors elected will be announced next spring and inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony and gala event, to be held October 2, 2015, in Tampa.
