Inside Fashion Forecast: Color and Bold Prints Will Fire Up Spring Retail Sales

NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2011 — Inside Fashion, a leading provider of proprietary industry intelligence and international trends, has confirmed that the fashion mood for Spring '12 is exuberant.

Inside Fashion's Front Row Reports from the New York and European catwalk shows reported that tangerine, mango and vibrant fuchsia topped the color charts this season.

"We believe that these colors will be retail success story," said Jane Singer, Editorial Director. "Color has a tremendous emotional and psychological impact. These vibrant shades are uplifting and add drama and excitement to the selling floor."

Inside Fashion's Front Row Reports identify top trends from the international runways that Inside Fashion believes will be a success at retail. The Front Row Reports summarize the season's trends, and then highlight how to "Work the Look" and how to make each trend a retail bestseller.

Other top trends that Inside Fashion is betting on for Spring '12 include bold prints, dresses – particularly vintage silhouettes, cool blues, sports-inspired separates and molten metallics.

According to Inside Fashion, from abstract to jungle fever, print motifs make the most of the season's color spectrum from classic brights to zesty sharp tones. "These bold, energetic prints enable consumers to express their individuality and uniqueness, a trend which is becoming increasingly important in the mainstream market," said Singer.

In contrast, a palette of blues is making fashion news in tones from cool silvery shades, sky and aqua to rich cobalt. The trend plays off of consumers' love of indigo, taking it into new fabric applications and smart tailored looks.

Detailed interpretations of these trends, including fabric swatches, technical illustrations, color references and retail insights, will be available in the November issue of Inside Fashion.
