ExteNet Systems to Ring The NASDAQ Closing Bell as a 2015 Chicago Innovation Award Recipient

ExteNet Recognized in 2015 for its Distributed Network as a Service Offering

CHICAGO, Feb. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — ExteNet Systems, Inc., the leading independent provider of distributed networks enabling outdoor and indoor wireless connectivity, will join the Chicago Innovation Awards, the Chicago region's foremost annual celebration of innovation, in New York City today to ring the Closing Bell of The NASDAQ Stock Market.

ExteNet Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Eric Lekacz will ring the bell on behalf of the company. The event will emphasize the surge in innovation that is occurring in the Chicago region and shine a spotlight on the organizations that will make up its 21st century economy.

"We are excited to be here today to represent the City of Chicago as one of the fastest-growing technology hubs and stand beside some of the most innovative companies in the region," said Eric Lekacz, EVP of Business Development and Strategy of ExteNet. "ExteNet has always been at the forefront of innovation in the communications infrastructure industry and the acknowledgement from the Chicago Innovation Awards committee for our contributions is an honor. As demand for pervasive communications networks continues to grow, ExteNet will play a critical role working alongside its wireless carrier and real estate partners to deliver pragmatic innovative distributed networking solutions that enable outdoor and indoor wireless connectivity."

ExteNet brings a wealth of experience in the design, build and operation of distributed networks, with operational networks deployed across the country, including each of the top 25 metropolitan areas (MSAs). The company remains deeply committed to the Chicago and Illinois technology community with continued investment in the greater Chicago region.

The recognition comes on the heels of ExteNet's recently completed $1.4 billion recapitalization, making the company one of only four tech "unicorns" in the Chicagoland area. ExteNet built small cell networks to enhance LTE coverage and capacity in the San Francisco Bay Area in advance of the 2016 Super Bowl for a leading national wireless carrier. ExteNet recently commissioned 4G LTE cellular service for all four wireless service providers throughout the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) subway system. In late 2015, ExteNet was recognized by the Chicago Innovation Awards for its "Distributed Network as a Service" (DNS) offering, taking home the communication category award.

"This annual event is an excellent example of how the Chicago Innovation Awards celebrates the spirit of innovation in organizations across all industries, sizes and sectors," said Tom Kuczmarski, co-founder of the Chicago Innovation Awards.

"We congratulate ExteNet for winning the Chicago Innovation Awards, and applaud their commitment to innovation," said Dan Miller, fellow co-founder.

Joining ExteNet will be other winners of the 2015 Chicago Innovation Awards, including: Abbott, AMPY, Aon, Avant, Baxalta, Cara Program, Caterpillar, Coapt, ContextMedia, First Stop Health, Growth Equity Group, Infiniteach, Kapow, King-Devick Test, Nucurrent, Opternative, Outernet, LuminAID, Reliefwatch, Snapsheet, Tanvas, The Trust for Public Land, and Xaptum.
