Engineering Industry Icon, T. Jay Collins, Joins Texas Institute of Science’s Board of Directors

RICHARDSON, Texas, Sept. 8, 2011 — Texas Institute of Science (TxIS), a globally recognized innovator of high-speed, Internet-based clustered scientific research and engineering services, announced T. Jay Collins as the newest member of TxIS's Board of Directors. Mr. Collins will provide expert advice on technology, industry, and trends as TxIS implements plans for mid and long-term growth.

Collins brings extensive experience to TxIS's Board of Directors. His impressive career at Oceaneering International, Inc. began in October 1993. He was initially hired as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, retiring after almost 18 years this past May as President and CEO. Oceaneering International, Inc. is a global oilfield provider of engineered services and products primarily to the offshore oil and gas industry, with a focus on deepwater applications. Through use of its applied technology expertise, Oceaneering also serves the defense and aerospace industries. Oceaneering is traded on the NYSE and earned a net income of almost $190 million on revenues of nearly $1.9 billion for the year ending December 31, 2009. Oceaneering has more than 7,900 employees working out of 68 locations in 21 countries.

Collins continues to serve as Director on the Board of Oceaneering International, Inc. and is past Chairman of the Board of Directors for National Ocean Industries Association. He serves on the Board of the American Productivity & Quality Center, Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association, and CanCare of Houston. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council. Additionally, Collins maintains an affiliation with Rice University as a member of the Rice Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the Council of Overseers of the Jones Graduate School of Business Administration.

Collins holds an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business, and both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master's in Chemical Engineering from Rice University.
