Eating Disorder Hope Announces Exciting NEDAW 2016 Events

REDMOND, Ore., Feb. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Eating Disorder Hope is pleased to announce its upcoming activities for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (NEDAW), which takes place from February 22 to February 28, 2016. Hosting events on social media and other online platforms throughout the month, Eating Disorder Hope is proud to be participating in NEDAW to increase awareness of eating disorders and recovery.

Eating Disorder Hope is facilitating a Google Hangout with the George Washington University chapter of Students Promoting Eating Disorder Awareness and Knowledge (SPEAK) on February 11, 2016 at 9:00 p.m. EST. Students Jocelyn Jacoby, Freddi Marsillo, and Greg Rheault will be hosting this group to educate participants on the impact SPEAK organizations can have on college campuses nationwide.

SPEAK of George Washington University is also partnering with Eating Disorder Hope for a Twitter chat on February 16, 2016 at 9:00 p.m. EST, led by students Rachel Onefater and Laura Porter. This chat will include information on the student organization and tips for recovery.

Kim Dennis, M.D., CEO and Medical Director of Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, is leading an interactive Google Hangout through Eating Disorder Hope on February 22, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. EST. This hangout, entitled "Eating Disorder Recovery: Relapse Forwards or Backwards," will feature Dr. Dennis speaking on the complexities of recovery and how to handle relapses.

Melanie Schorr, M.D., is partnering with Eating Disorder Hope to host "Bone Health in Anorexia Nervosa," an informative webinar on the prevalence of low bone density in those with a history of the disorder, on February 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. EST. Osteopenia and osteoporosis are common long-term complications associated with anorexia, which Dr. Schorr and her colleagues at Massachusetts General Hospital aim to research further through the Massachusetts General Bone Health Study.

Eating Disorder Hope will be a panelist on two live Twitter chats for NEDAW, including Proud2BeMe's "Awareness to Action" chat on February 22, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. EST. The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) Twitter chat, "Getting Healthy: The Many Faces of Eating Disorders Recovery," will take place on February 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. EST.

As a part of its Pro-Recovery Movement, Eating Disorder Hope will also be holding a Pinterest contest throughout the month of February. Participants can create a "pro-recovery" board on the social media site for a chance to win a $100.00 Amazon.com gift card.
