DLA's QTSL Certification Adds Aggressive Defense Against Counterfeit Microcircuits

NORRISTOWN, Pa., June 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Aerospace and Defense distributor Secure Components LLC has successfully completed the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) Qualified Testing Supplier List (QTSL) assessment and is now qualified to sell Federal Stock Classes (FSC) 5961 (Semiconductor Devices) and 5962 (Microcircuits) to the DLA. The 2-day assessment took place at Secure Components' corporate offices in Norristown, PA and was performed by DLA inspectors from Land and Maritime.  The audit scrutinized Secure Components' Business & Quality Management System (BQMS) and their Counterfeit Avoidance Plan (CAP). The audit confirmed that Secure Components is compliant with the JEDEC standard JESD31 (General Requirements for Distributors of Military Semiconductor Devices), the JESD625 (Requirements for Handling Electrostatic-Discharge-Sensitive (ESDS) Devices), and is qualified to deliver material to the DLA. The QTSL certification further validates the effectiveness and robustness of the BQMS and CAP created and implemented by Secure Components. Secure Components is one of just nine distributors in the United States to earn the QTSL certification. http://www.landandmaritime.dla.mil/offices/sourcing_and_qualification/QTSL.aspx  As a Trusted Supplier for DLA, Secure Components utilizes Applied DNA Sciences marking program to provide DNA marking on all 5962 Microcircuits sold to the DLA.

In conjunction with today's QTSL announcement, and in keeping with Secure Components' commitment to quality, Secure Components recently completed the first AS6081 assessment by a third-party certification body Det Norske Veritas (DNV).  This pilot assessment was witnessed by two members of ANAB and a representative from Boeing. The three witnesses observed DNV over the course of the 5-day assessment. Secure Components, through the IECQ Counterfeit Avoidance Program, anticipates issuance of their AS6081 certification in the next couple of weeks.   The QTSL certification combined with the successful completion of the first AS6081 assessment uniquely positions Secure Components as a leader amongst distributors in the fight against counterfeits.

"We have built this business with one thing in mind: Continual Improvement," said Secure Components Chief Operating Officer Stephan Halper. Furthermore, he added, "Secure Components is focused on providing our customers with confidence when they engage us to help them procure material when the chain of custody to the OCM/OEM has been broken. We have a responsibility to the DLA and to all of our customers to stay on the cutting edge of counterfeit mitigation and avoidance." Mr. Halper goes on to state, "When I started in this business, our primary focus was on finding components. Now, our focus is on continuing to update our systems to ensure that every part we supply meets our customers' needs. These days virtually anyone can find components. However, what distinguishes the truly responsible and proactive distributors is their willingness to spend the time and resources necessary to become certified to third-party standards, such as QTSL and AS6081. We are proud to have earned the QTSL certification and look forward to strengthening what is already a solid working relationship with the DLA."
