Dicom Systems Announce Virtualization Feature for Software as a Service (SaaS)

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 18, 2010 — Dicom Systems have revealed that they will be unveiling the latest addition to the DCMSYS product family at the upcoming 2010 Annual HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Conference & Exhibition. This industry-driven conference is being held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, between March 1-4.

The latest virtualization feature for Dicom System's leading DICOM/HL7 router will allow users to setup HIPPA-compliant secure virtual routes on a physical DCMSYS device. It promises to significantly improve flexibility and IHE workflow ensuring interoperability within Teleradiology and allowing users to SaaS model on an entirely new scale. The feature has been achieved through using advanced routing technology, DICOM HL7 pre/post processing, statistic reports API module and dicom virtualization: all part of Dicom Systems' DCMSYS ultimate router solution.

Storage can be separated either physically or logically – depending on the customer requirement – and will enable radiology IT personal to: operate out of a single DCMSYS device and manage the entire Enterprise radiology network; address interoperability issues when managing a multitude of clients; and run ASP dicom business. Radiologists will see considerable benefits as they will be able to use the DCMSYS router to pull or receive only the information they need – instead of having to sort through vast quantities of patient information.

This latest innovation will "virtually" separate DICOM and HL7 rules, configuration and storages, and will serve to further integrate the processes of their systems, allowing for ever better communication across healthcare enterprises with associated improved outcomes for patient care.
