U.S. Department of Energy Phase 0 Program Announces New Webinar on Indirect Rates

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) SBIR/STTR Phase 0 Program is hosting a webinar on what many small research & development firms believe to be the most confusing part of the SBIR proposal process – Indirect Rates.

Calculating Indirect Rates for DOE SBIR/STTR Grants will be hosted by Dave Donley of ReliAscent, a Colorado-based company comprised of DCAA compliance consultants and government contract accounting experts. The webinar will cover the principles and techniques for developing indirect rates called for in the DOE SBIR/STTR most recent Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, January 14th at 11 am EST. To attend the webinar, please click on the following link: http://www.dawnbreaker.com/doephase0/webinar.php.

Details discussed include the types of costs allowable as indirect costs, what costs are expressly unallowable, and the variety of techniques for developing an indirect rate structure and percentages suitable for a particular business. The DOE indirect rate model will also be examined, as will the required input data for indirect rates for the project budget.

"The webinars, along with additional online learning systems which are in the works, are designed for everybody to take advantage of," explains Dr. Jenny C. Servo, President of Dawnbreaker, which administers the Phase 0 Program for DOE. "We are continuing to add a host of new resources to the Phase 0 website, as well as provide interactive support for anybody interested in learning more about the DOE SBIR/STTR process."

Due to overwhelming demand for Phase 0 services and reaching budget capacity, Dawnbreaker is no longer accepting applications for the current FOA. However, registration will reopen for FY 2016's Phase I Release I FOA. For more information, please visit www.dawnbreaker.com/doephase0/.
