In a period of 14 days, Lusk signed up 7 institutions in the same city where the Marlene Yu Museum opens, to exhibit non-overlapping themed selections from Yu's 50 years of work, approximately 4000 paintings and more than 35 series of art works on canvases ranging from 16 inches to 37 feet long.

The celebration is to begin when Yu turns 77 mid-September to early November of this year at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum; October to November 2014 at the Robinson Film Center; December 2014 at the Marlene Yu Museum; January to March 2015 at the Bossier Arts Council; February 2015 at the Meadows Museum of Art; April 2015 for National Environmental Education Week and Earth Day at Sci-Port; and with the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.

Backers receive rewards as varied as notecards featuring Yu's art, signed posters and prints, discounted tickets to the December 18, 2014 preview party of the grand opening of the Marlene Yu Museum, sponsorship credits, 200-plus page books about the art, and even original paintings of the artist.

"I think that not only will we be able to accomplish our goal, but Marlene will also be incredibly moved by our collective online response and it will be a huge encouragement for her to keep producing amazing art at her active 77 years of age," says Lusk.

Yu has had 69 solo shows in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and is Founder and Curator of the Rainforest Art Foundation in New York.  Her work has earned reviews and interviews in 9 languages in more than 200 publications, by numerous art magazines, newspapers, TV, and radio shows, such as ARTFORUM, Art in America, Art News, World Journal, and Barbara Walters' Today Show.

In recognition of Marlene's love of nature, her passion as one of the environmental pioneers in the green movement in the arts, and her non-profit work as Founder and Curator of the Rainforest Art Foundation to increase appreciation of nature through art, the end date of this kickstarter coincides with Earth Day — Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
