Corporate Philanthropy: Cambridge Wealth Counsel's Financial Advisors and Clients Give Gifts, Food and Time for the Holidays

ATLANTA, Dec. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — The holiday spirit was in full swing recently as Cambridge Wealth Counsel's financial advisors and their clients completed their 2nd Annual CWC Holiday Family Gift Wrap event to provide toys and tools for families who are supported by All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD).

All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD) believes in empowering families living with developmental disabilities to make informed choices and helps them build on their strengths to seek opportunities, resources and services.  The group provides family support services, public policy and advocacy, and community engagement programs.

More than 80 clients wrapped more than 150 gifts, including tooth brushes, socks, coats, pots and pans and other items requested for daily living for many families who live below the poverty line, said Robert Hockett, president of Cambridge Wealth Counsel.

CWC also collaborated with AADD to secure $1,000 in donation of food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an organization known for its global humanitarian service

"We have a tradition of giving back to the community. We ask our clients to give a donation to the charity of their choice," said Hockett. "As financial advisors, we help advise our clients to act on their philanthropic interests. One of the things we do in the wealth management process is charitable gifting. We help our clients and their families get involved in the philanthropic interests of their choices."

CWC vets charitable organizations on behalf of their clients as part of their consultative process to ensure money is going to worthwhile groups. CWC is also exploring opportunities to create its own non-profit, philanthropic organization that will devote 100 percent of donations to charities.

"Our clients – and our employees – have a history of volunteer work in their churches, synagogues and communities," he said.

CWC has been active in Rotary literacy projects in Belize, as well as the Boy Scouts of America.

CWC also announced it has received several awards and accolades from the media, including:

  • Medical Economics, in the November 2012 issue, named CWC President Robert Hockett and Chief Investment Officer Barry Kaplan as top advisors in the country.
  • Atlanta Business Chronicle, named CWC as one of the Top 10 NAPFA fee-only wealth management companies in its November issue.
  • Atlanta magazine named CWC as a "5-Star Wealth Manager" in customer satisfaction in its November issue.

"We counsel, plan and collaborate in a holistic, disciplined manner so our clients prosper," said Hockett.

The company provides wealth management services to senior executives, successful business owners, and seasoned licensed professionals, including doctors and dentists, who appreciate a long-term consultative relationship.

"Our Fee-Only structure and our dedication to customer service allows us to provide outstanding service to our clients at all stages of their personal business financial lifecycles," said Hockett. The company provides wealth management services to doctors, dentists, executives and business owners in 15 states.
