click2try(TM) White Labels Jukebox Service to Commercial Open Source Vendors

Helps vendors simplify evaluations, improve demos, and shorten sales cycles

HOUSTON, July 21, 2009 — click2try(TM) (http://www.click2try.com) today announced its White Label service to bring the benefits of the click2try(TM) technology to commercial Open Source software vendors. The company's click2try.com site provides users free and subscription-based access to preconfigured application virtual machines.

The White Label service lets a commercial Open Source software vendor deliver a live sandbox of software applications right from the vendor's website. The preconfigured virtual machine hosting the application is actually delivered from the secure click2try(TM) data center in Houston, Texas.

The White Label service ) eliminates the need to download, install, and configure trial versions of software. Often, in corporate network environments, downloading and installing software is a restricted activity. This level of security prevents many departmental managers and their staff from evaluating and purchasing new tools that can improve productivity.

"The evaluation problem has frustrated people for too long. Companies require an evaluation process for new software purchases, but the IT department's charter is to protect everything inside the firewall. That means restricting software downloads. It's a Catch-22," says Mario Grech, click2try(TM) CEO. "Our White Label service lets staff evaluate applications in a real-world environment without downloading and installing behind the corporate firewall. Problem solved."

With the click2try(TM) White Label service, vendors provide running versions of their software products from a branded VM, accessible by a link or graphic on their own website. Vendors can work with click2try(TM) to configure the VMs with sample data to model real-world scenarios. Salespeople can more easily demonstrate complex software products.

"The click2try(TM) White Label service knocks down a huge barrier for commercial Open Source vendors and consultants," says Mark Smallwood, click2try(TM) Marketing Communications Manager. "There are several reasons why the ratio of installs to downloads in this industry is so dismal, but the solution is to bypass the downloading and installation entirely."

Evaluating server-based software is especially difficult, requiring, as server software often does, multiple systems to simulate a true test. Because each corporate environment is unique, configuring multiple evaluations can be costly and an immediate sales blocker, even when IT is running the evaluation. Current corporate resource limitations are making it harder to evaluate server software and, as a result, companies are missing out on the productivity and cost benefits of Open Source solutions. The click2try White Label service aims to remedy that problem.
