click2try(TM) Virtual Launch Program Delivers Open Source Apps from Any Website

Open Source catalog site provides button that gives instant-on access to applications

HOUSTON, Aug. 4, 2009 — click2try(TM) (http://www.click2try.com) today announced its Virtual Launch program to help website owners and bloggers give free access to individual Open Source applications from the click2try(TM) catalog. The company's click2try.com site provides users free and subscription-based access to preconfigured application virtual machines.

Anyone can visit the click2try(TM) Virtual Launch page and choose from a list of hosted applications. The page generates the code to display a button which, when copied to a website or blog, allows any visitor to launch a preconfigured application virtual machine. The preconfigured virtual machine hosting the application is actually delivered from the secure click2try(TM) data center in Houston, Texas. To users of the blog or website, the application is launched right from the site they are on.

"The Virtual Launch program is a free service aimed at helping Open Source projects publicize their applications," says Mario Grech, click2try(TM) CEO. "By allowing bloggers and community sites to provide an instant-on experience for their users, we're helping spread the word about the great applications that are available from the Open Source community."

The click2try(TM) Virtual Launch program makes it easy to launch and try a software application from any site, and eliminates the need to download and install software. The click2try(TM) site currently offers over 50 applications, including Ubuntu, openSUSE, Kablink Teaming, CentOS, Joomla!, Drupal, WordPress, XOOPS, SilverStripe, Eclipse, Compiere, OpenERP (TinyERP), Openbravo, SugarCRM, vTiger, OrangeHRM, PostBooks, Simple Invoices, KnowledgeTree, OWL, osCommerce, eGroupWare, TimeTrex, Mantis, Bugzilla, Trac Subversion, Redmine, dotProject, GanttProject, Sakai, Moodle, Open Admin for Schools, Koha, TCExam, OxygenOffice (OpenOffice), Chandler PIM, Freemind, Pentaho, DrJava, Bacula, ORTS Trouble Ticket System, Request Tracker/RTFM, Cacti, Simple Directory Listing, Open-Realty, TinyMCE, phpBB, PunBB, TikiWiki, DokuWiki, MediaWiki, and MoinMoin.

"We would love to get thousands of sites to integrate the Virtual Launch button into their pages," says Mark Smallwood, click2try Marketing Manager. "If your blog is about how to use CRM applications to get more customers and sales, wouldn't it be great to provide a way for your visitors to try out SugarCRM, Compiere, and vTiger right from your site, at no cost to you or them?"

The Virtual Launch program is open to anybody without registration. Simply visit the click2try(TM) Virtual Launch program page and generate and copy the code. Paste the code into the appropriate location in your own site to pull the button and application from the click2try servers.
