Utilizing US government certified mills, approved suppliers and independent international testing laboratories, all ChurchPlaza manufactured church chairs, sanctuary seating and church seating are in full compliance with CARB (California Air Resources Board) Phases 1&2 and The Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act limiting the emissions of formaldehyde, a known health hazard and carcinogen.

In addition, all foam used in ChurchPlaza Chairs is certified to have non-detectable emission levels of TDCPP, a known carcinogen present in many commercial flame retardants, as are all paints used certified in compliance with applicable regulations.

"While known as the highest quality church and sanctuary chairs available to churches for many years, we are now pleased to be certified as the SAFEST church chairs," noted Dr. Thomas McElheny, Founder and CEO of ChurchPlaza.  He also noted that the high quality foam used in ChurchPlaza chairs does not contain formaldehyde adding to the safety of ChurchPlaza's chairs and that chair fabrics exceed standards established by US and International law and trade organization regarding formaldehyde.

Nitza Dowdy, ChurchPlaza's General Manager, summed up the importance of the announcement saying, "The internet and economic stresses have fueled the emergence of some church chair providers focused on building and selling the cheapest chairs possible and many use components dangerous to church users."

She noted that ChurchPlaza's actions will not only make their customers safer but will hopefully educate other churches in the US and internationally about the dangers of buying uncertified church and sanctuary seating while also encouraging competitors to raise the quality and safety of the chairs they produce.

Headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, ChurchPlaza maintains manufacturing and warehousing capabilities at 4 locations and has been endorsed by 45 national denominations, ministries and/or their publishing houses over the past 28 years.  For further information contact Email.
