Children's Retailer Petit Green Shares Choice Tips for Making Holiday Travel with Kids a Breeze

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Petit Green, the Columbus-based children's retailer, aims to simplify traveling with kids during the busy holiday season with a list of "must have" items.

"The inherently hectic winter holiday travel season can be a little easier with the right products in hand," said Cherie Hinson, co-founder of Petit Green. "After years of traveling with my own small children, I've developed a few tricks of the trade."

Hinson believes choosing the right stroller and car seat can have the biggest impact on travel. Hinson recommends the Uppa Stroller G-Luxe ($189.99), weighing under 11 lbs. and featuring recline with umbrella, carry strap and self-standing fold with hand-level folding triggers. It's the lightest full-size umbrella stroller with recline in the USA.

For newborns up to 70 lbs., Hinson suggests the Peg Perego Convertible 70 Car Seat ($329.99) with its narrow seat, versatility and maximum safety features. Additionally, for children 35-100 lbs., the Clek Oobr booster seat ($274.99) features a rigid latch system and fully reclines for longer car trips.

The ultra-light Inglesina Fast Table Chair ($49.99) turns virtually any table into a safe place for kids to enjoy a meal or snack on-the-go. It also collapses into its own bag.

With increased airport security, the Moby Wrap ($47.95) makes passing through the detector with an infant a bit less stressful with no buckles, snaps or fasteners to trigger the alarm. Hinson also suggests packing the unisex LeSportsac Ryan diaper bag ($128) with its hands-free messenger strap, machine washable fabric and fold flat capability. It's the lightest diaper bag on the market.

For toddlers, entertainment is the name of the game. Hinson loves wooden Plan Toys, including the Lacing Sheep ($20) with its limited number of pieces and the Charly Harper Memory Game ($15). And for storytelling, the Apple Park Story Book with Finger Puppets ($8+) brings the story to life. Include an all-cotton BlahBlah doll for the little one to snuggle.

Of course, smartphones and tablets have revolutionized travel with downloadable movies and apps. Hinson uses Netflix when wifi is available and enjoys games from Apple's App Store including Flow Free (free), Maze Adventures ($2.99), Arthur's Teacher Trouble ($4.99), Ride a Pony with Kate & Harry ($1.99), and Go Go Games ($1.99).

Other fun activities include making Cheerio bracelets (using shoestring or yarn), crafting aluminum foil sculptures, and the always popular "I Spy" scavenger hunt game. For successful "I Spy" games, assemble a list of items you're likely to see on the road or in the airport and challenge your kids to find them all.

Petit Green and www.petitgreenbaby.com provide shoppers with healthy, functional and green products to ensure the well-being of both consumers and the planet. The store's focus on merchandise made with non-toxic materials and minimal environmental impact has been well received, especially as caregivers learn more about the hazards associated with products that influence children.
