New Children's Book Tells Biblical Story in Fresh Way

"The Rooster's Story" Uses Whimsical Story to Impart Important Principles

GRANADA HILLS, Calif., Oct. 27, 2009 — Discover a classic biblical story of trust and betrayal in "The Rooster's Story" (published by AuthorHouse), the inspirational, colorful new children's book by first-time author Freddie.

Based on the New Testament story of disciple Peter's denial of Jesus when Jesus was arrested, "The Rooster's Story" is set on a small rural farm that is owned and operated by Farmer Fred. One day, a rooster comes to the farm and tells Farmer Fred that he is the direct descendent of the famous rooster who crowed on the night Peter denied Jesus. Freddie writes:

"I want to tell you the story of my Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Granddaddy on my Daddy's side of the family," began the Big Red Rooster, in his gravelly sort of voice. "He lived in a country far away and of course this was several years ago. Great-Granddad was a city rooster always looking for a good meal and trying hard to stay away from the cooking pot." …

"The sun had set and the sky was starting to get dark. Great-Granddad was heading for his favorite sleeping spot, when suddenly all the soldiers and leaders came back. Everyone around was yelling and screaming and in the middle of the crowd the soldiers had hold of a man almost dragging him along. They took him over to the main building where the soldiers proceeded to punch and knock him around some before they all went inside. Granddad said the man wasn't as big as the soldiers and it really wasn't right the way they beat him."

As the rooster continues the story of how his great-grandfather saw Peter and followed him the night Jesus was arrested, how Peter denied Jesus, and how devastated Peter was once he realized the betrayal, Farmer Fred listens intently. After the story is finished, Farmer Fred decides that everyone has a story to tell, and sets off to share his own stories with others.

Ideal for preschool and elementary-aged children, "The Rooster's Story" combines a classic biblical tale with an important message about spreading the story's important moral lessons. Discover more in the pages of this entertaining new book.

Freddie was born and raised in Kentucky and now lives in California with his wife, Roseanne. "The Rooster's Story" is his first published book and he plans to write more in the future.
