Camp Broadway Celebrates 15th Anniversary in Atlanta with Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta Partnership

Broadway's Original Camp Moves Into the Rialto Theater on June 9-13 for One Session Only

NEW YORK, May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Camp Broadway®, Broadway's Original Summer Camp, returns to Atlanta, Georgia, for the 15th anniversary season of its musical theater camp on Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13, for one session only. Presented in association with Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta, Camp Broadway's signature 5-day musical theater camp for kids ages 10-17 will be held at the Rialto Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Georgia State University, just five minutes from the Fabulous Fox on Peachtree Street, where Camp Broadway has been presented in the past.

Camp Broadway is committed to providing families with a safe, supportive and professional environment where children can express their creativity, hone their skills and develop their character. Theater-loving kids will enjoy 40 hours of classes in singing, dancing and acting to learn songs and scenes from Broadway's Once on This Island, Jr. by award winning lyricist Lynn Ahrens and composer Stephen Flaherty. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a performance of The Little Mermaid at the Fox Theatre on July 9. Camp Broadway's annual Family Finale will be held at the beautiful 833-seat Rialto Center—the same stage where many world-class artists perform. All classes are taught by experienced professionals direct from Broadway in New York City including: Director, Michelle Robinson (Chicago, Dreamgirls); Choreographer Sue Delano (My Fair Lady); and Musical Director is Atlanta's own Bill Newberry, who directed the children in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. In addition, 5-time Camp Broadway alumni Elyse Wolford, from Acworth, Georgia, will serve as a stage manager.

"Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta is proud to help Camp Broadway establish a permanent residence in Atlanta," says Russ Belin, Vice President of Broadway in Atlanta. "In addition to presenting the best shows Broadway has to offer, we are committed to working with Camp Broadway to cultivate the next generation of both talent and theatre goers."

"Atlanta is a second home for Camp Broadway," says Delano. "It's been so rewarding watching kids grow up with us over these many years. We're proud to have played an important role in the lives of children who otherwise would not have been exposed to Broadway's beloved musicals and the artists who created them."

Since its introduction in Atlanta in 1999, hundreds of children who would not otherwise been able to afford access to Camp Broadway's programs have been awarded scholarships. Through the generous support of The Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation many children in Atlanta will be attending this session to further its mission to foster a love of art and music in children.

In addition to instruction in musical theater, children also receive the Camp Broadway official t-shirt, healthy lunches, snacks and more. No experience is necessary. Enrollment is limited. To register, visit www.campbroadway.com.

Founded in 1995, Camp Broadway® has hosted 30,000 theatre-loving kids at our annual summer camps presented around the country and over 400,000 students at its educational workshops in New York City.
