Calling All Young Adventurers: In the High-Tech Molly Moccasins Series, Curiosity Is the Next Big Thing

LOS ANGELES, May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — All children are born with limitless curiosity about the world around them. Unfortunately, as many kids grow, that curiosity is dulled. And by the time they reach adulthood, they're merely going through the motions necessary to make it through each day instead of actively trying to understand and shape the world around them. But it doesn't have to be that way. Just in time for summer, a great new series is here to help parents encourage the development of curiosity in their kids.

Molly Moccasins, a bright, imaginative, and curious character, will help young readers find meaning, knowledge, and adventure in everyday life. In each book, Molly's toe-tingling moccasins lead her toward a problem or mystery to solve. As she makes her way through backyards, museums, farms, libraries, forests, and more, Molly finds the answers to her questions and gleans a little wisdom along the way.

With her spirited imagination, slightly sophisticated vocabulary, and positive perspective, Molly inspires young readers to ask new questions, observe new things, and develop an increased curiosity about the world around them.

"Stimulating your children's curiosity is a wonderful gift because it enables them to continually learn, grow, and question the world they live in," says Victoria Ryan O'Toole, creator of the Molly Moccasins story, game, and activity book series (along with the accompanying advertising-free website, www.mollymoccasins.com).

"Curiosity also helps kids develop a healthy imagination and sense of creativity and sets them up for a successful future," she adds. "The truth is, curiosity and creativity are some of the most valuable skills young people can have as they prepare to enter the global economy. As professionals, they'll have to innovate on the go, think of better ways to solve old problems, create time- and money-saving solutions, and much more."

According to O'Toole, books are the perfect way to help kids strengthen and flex their curiosity muscles.

"When many of us were children, storytime was one of our favorite activities because books opened up whole new worlds," O'Toole points out. "The same thing is true for youngsters today. Stories empower their imaginations, help them to broaden their dreams, allow their vocabularies to become richer, make their communication skills stronger, and instill in them a lifelong love of learning."

Using contemporary media and launching with nearly 70 stories and even more game options, the Molly Moccasins series adds high-tech fun to traditional storytelling. Molly's adventures can be enjoyed by children, parents, and educators on many platforms: web, print, apps, ebooks, and audio books.

"I created Molly in hopes of supporting early learning and literacy development and connecting young readers to the world of fun available to them in their everyday lives," O'Toole comments. "This summer, plug in to engaging your child's curiosity and help your young adventurer recapture the excitement of storytime. As you read, play, think, imagine, and investigate together, you'll probably be surprised by how much fun you'll have in the process!"
