The California State University Institute for Palliative Care Partners with San Diego Chapter of Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association for 2-Day Certification Preparation Course

SAN MARCOS, Calif., Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — www.CSUPalliativeCare.org — The California State University Institute for Palliative Care in conjunction with the San Diego chapter of Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) announced its second certification preparation course this year. The Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing Association (CHPN) RN Certification Preparation course has been designed for registered nurses working in hospice and palliative care in any setting. The weekend course is October 12-13 in San Diego.

As organizations like the Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and others look to health care organizations to deliver palliative care using professionals with recognized certifications, nurses working in palliative care are recognizing the value of taking the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) RN Certification exam.

Any RN contemplating certification (or needing to renew it) will find this two-day preparation course extremely helpful in passing the certification exam. Executive director of the Institute Helen McNeal said, "We've had a very strong testing success rate this year. From our last course this spring 80% of the participants that tested passed the Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse examination."
