Breast Cancer Survivor Lauren E. Miller Offers Stress Relief Tips as Breast Cancer Awareness Month Begins in October

LITTLETON, Colo., Sept. 8, 2010 — This year, 209,060 new breast cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in the US. Stress relief expert Lauren E. Miller, a breast cancer survivor herself, shares simple strategies to release the stress around the breast cancer experience in her new book, Release the Stress around Breast Cancer, http://www.laurenemiller.com. To schedule interviews please contact: Jennifer Geronimo at 415-444-0401 or Email.

"I was diagnosed with breast cancer one week prior to my final divorce court date, truly, this was the perfect storm in my life."  Having weathered divorce and cancer at the same time, Lauren created simple solutions for any challenge that unfolds before you in life.

At the initial stage of a breast cancer diagnosis Lauren recommends the following:

  1. Connect with your breath and focus on being the observer vs. the reactor of what is unfolding before you. You will find when you remain present to the moment at hand, the grace you need to handle it shows up.
  2. Choose curiosity and fascination over victimization and assumptions. Ask solution-based questions. "How" questions vs. "why" questions that keep you stuck in the past: "How can I return to inner peace in spite of what is happening around me," rather than, "Why is this happening to me?" Victimization will keep you emotionally paralyzed.
  3. Stressor/Action Sheet: Fold a piece of paper in half, in the first column write "Stressor" in the second write "Action." Write down what is causing you anxiety in the "Stressor" column and for the "Action" column ask yourself, "What positive action can I take now to bring me to a place of inner peace." Perhaps it will be, "I will take action on this tomorrow."

Lauren has received national recognition in Redbook and Ladies Home Journal along with The International Journal of Healing and Care. She has shared stress relief tips on local and national TV.
