It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Get Breast Cancer Stress Relief from the Woman Who Has Been Through it All and Is Now Giving Back

LITTLETON, Colo., Sept. 30, 2010 — Imagine 5 days before your final divorce court date finding out that you are diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Two of the top stressors in life at the same time gave Lauren E. Miller the opportunity to put her 18 years of stress relief practice to the test.

At age 38 Miller found herself face to face with death. Diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, Miller was determined to beat the odds. As Breast Cancer Awareness month begins, the mother of three is grateful to be alive. She uses her new gift of life to dish out stress relief tips to those diagnosed with breast cancer. After surviving a divorce, 16 chemos, a double mastectomy, 12 surgeries, 1 year of herceptin infusions and 6 weeks of daily radiation all under 2 years, Miller's doctor declared her "the wonder woman of breast cancer." She has written three books to help others face life's challenges — one of them hitting the Best Seller list on Amazon.com. Her most recent book is Release the Stress around Breast Cancer…with Methods and Mantras for the Mastectomies of Life.

"Read this book of struggle and triumph and know that there is truth in that familiar song. You never walk alone. Lauren Miller takes us on her journey through the flames of a health crisis and the fire of lost love, all the while reminding us of the renewing virtue of believing in hope, friendship, and the embrace of a higher power," writes Ellen Levine, Editorial Director, Hearst Magazines.

Lauren says, "When you realize you are capable of choosing your response to any situation in life and you choose life and love no matter what surrounds you, you have already overcome that which you feel has overcome you. We all have our life storms and along with them a profound opportunity for learning and growth."

At the initial stage of a breast cancer diagnosis Lauren recommends the following:

  • Choose one or two positive mantras and repeat them throughout the day. This provides enough mental distraction to get you out of your thoughts that tend to fertilize fear, doubt and worry, giving you the opportunity to connect to your heart and soul. Release the Stress around Breast Cancer contains 123 mantras I used throughout my treatment.
  • Remember who you are. Part of this experience involves remembering what you are not: You are not your hair, your breasts, the opinions of those around you, a statistic, a diagnosis, breast cancer, the fear that keeps you up at night. Who you are stands separate from anything that unfolds before you in this life. Don't forget who you are and the God-given power that dwells within you that is capable of moving mountains.
  • Be the observer vs. the reactor in all of this. Play the narrator, remain curious and remember you can't always choose what unfolds before you but you can always choose your response to it and that makes all the difference in the outcome.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lauren is offering free 20-minute Stress Relief Coaching phone sessions to anyone who has breast cancer. Lauren also facilitates free monthly workshops and teleseminars where she teaches a variety of stress relief techniques that can be done in under 5 minutes.   Details at: http://www.laurenemiller.com and visit the events page.
