New Book from Award-Winning Author Takes Home Two Awards from National Indie Excellence Awards

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., June 4, 2012 — The new book, Do NOT Invent Buggy Whips, that recently debuted as an Amazon Best Seller, has been notified that it has picked up two awards from the National Indie Excellence awards.

National Indie picked Do NOT Invent as the winner in the Business-Entrepreneurship & Small Business category and a finalist in the autobiography category. These two new awards follow closely on the announcements that Do NOT Invent was a  runner-up at the 2012 Green Book Festival in the Business Category and it was a runner-up in two categories – Business and How-to – at the 2012 San Francisco Book festival. It also captured Honorable Mention in the How-to category at the 2012 Paris book festival.

The National Indie Excellence Book Awards competition is judged by independent experts from all aspects of the indie book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters. They select award winners and finalists based on overall excellence of presentation.

The official launch of Do NOT Invent Buggy Whips was on May 22. Shortly after its official debut on Amazon, it ranked in the top 10 in two categories – Small Business Entrepreneurship (#3) and Entrepreneurship (#3). It also ranked #35 in the Business and Investing Category, and most remarkably it ranked #115 overall for all books on Amazon.

The book's main theme of product reinvention and personal reinvention has resonated with reviewers and readers who have seen the early release of the book. According to the author, Ken Thurber, Do NOT Invent had its genesis in unresolved questions and comments from his first book – Big Wave Surfing – Extreme Technology Development, Management, Marketing and Investing.

According to Thurber, "I found that my first book raised many questions, chief among them was – how do people innovate and how do you define innovation."

According to the author, Ken Thurber, "I think part of the appeal of Do NOT Invent is American's urge to reinvent their companies, their products, themselves. People realized in this last downturn that survival equals continual reinvention.

"The new heroes are technology titans. People like the late Steve Jobs, Jack Dorsey (founder of Twitter, Square) and Elon Musk (PayPal, Space X, Tesla Motors) who continually reinvent.

"That's why many of the case studies in the book concern companies and people from Starbucks to Apple to Picasso who continually reinvented themselves. It's a process. And you have to understand the process of What If? Who Cares? and finally, How Big Is My Market?"

This book is a must-read for the entrepreneur, the businessman and the individual who truly wants to understand not only product reinvention, but why it's important to keep reinventing yourself as well. As the author Thurber says, "If you can disrupt the status quo you have the opportunity to create wealth and prosperity for you and your associates. If you do not disrupt the product market, rest assured someone else will."

The Book is available in paperback and Kindle at Amazon. It's also available in paperback at Redbery Books.
