Berks County Plastic Surgery Practice Introduces Non-Surgical Double Chin Reduction

The board certified plastic surgeons and expert staff at Berks Plastic Surgery are now offering CoolMini™

READING, Pa., Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — According to recent studies, around 68% of consumers are dissatisfied with excess fat along the jawline, also known as "submental fullness" or, more colloquially, a double chin. This condition can affect anyone and is often the result of genetics and aging, making it nearly impossible to tone with exercise alone.

Traditionally, patients had few treatment options—and all of them were limited to surgical procedures such as liposuction or neck lift surgery. However, patients in Reading now have a new option at Berks Plastic Surgery: CoolMini™.

"The CoolMini device is the latest applicator released by CoolSculpting® and it is specially designed for nonsurgical fat reduction of smaller volumes of fat in hard-to-reach areas," explains board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian K. Reedy. "What's special about this applicator is that, like CoolSculpting, it safely and permanently rids the body of the targeted fat without the need for surgery, needles, or downtime."

CoolMini uses the same patented cryolipolysis® technology as CoolSculpting to reduce excess fat under the chin, above the knee, and around the armpit, but there are a few key differences. "The size, curvature, and shape of the CoolMini device make it ideal for these smaller bulges," adds Dr. Scott C. Lindsay.

Like the traditional CoolSculpting device, CoolMini rapidly cools fat cells in the treatment area to a temperature that triggers breakdown without impacting surrounding tissues. The procedure typically takes no longer than one hour and involves no needles or anesthesia. There is minimal discomfort and no downtime associated with treatment.

"One of the best parts about this treatment is that your body will gradually and naturally metabolize the broken down fat cells over the course of about 3 months," explains Dr. Reedy. "Patients will see an average of around 20-25% reduction of fat in the area, and results look very natural."

Berks Plastic Surgery is one of the first practices in the area to offer this technology, and Drs. Reedy and Lindsay are now taking appointments.
