New subscription-based service now available to hosting providers delivers instant, fully formatted previews of all SharePoint result content for hosted SharePoint customers
ATLANTA, May 19, 2011 — From the exposition hall of Microsoft's Tech-Ed North America conference, BA Insight, a leading provider of integrated search technologies for Microsoft SharePoint and FAST, today announced the launch of its new Longitude Preview for Hosted SharePoint service, and invited SharePoint hosting companies to begin offering the service to customers. BA Insight's new subscription-based service provides hosted SharePoint users with instant, fully formatted previews of all search result content, regardless of file type. Because the new offering enables SharePoint users to view search result content without the need to download the file, and automatically directs users to the most relevant page of their search content, Longitude Preview for Hosted SharePoint makes finding enterprise information more rapid, precise, and resource-efficient.

SharePoint Search Result Previews, Delivered as a Service
BA Insight's Longitude Preview for Hosted SharePoint service enables knowledge workers using a hosted SharePoint environment to view a fully formatted version of their search result content with a single click. Fully integrated into SharePoint's Search Center interface, Longitude's Silverlight-driven viewer provides full hit-highlighting throughout the entire document, as well as a dynamic hit-map which graphically displays the distribution of key words and phrases throughout each search result. This enables users to quickly assess the relevance of search results without having to manually download the entire file. Because each Longitude preview is only 10kb in size, both the time and resources required to review content for relevance are dramatically reduced as compared to traditional methods and out-of-the-box functionality.
Teaming with Hosting Providers to Deliver Enhanced Search Functionality
BA Insight is currently identifying SharePoint hosting providers interested in offering Longitude Preview to their customers. Because the new service utilizes Microsoft's secure and scalable Azure infrastructure to store and process its document previews, with individual previews delivered to the user upon demand, SharePoint hosting companies can add the service to their menu of offerings with minimal overhead, and customers can take advantage of its features without additional end-user training.
