BA Insight Bridges the Gap Between Enterprise Search and Action for Microsoft SharePoint(R) 2010 and FAST Search Server for SharePoint(R)

NEW YORK, Feb. 8, 2011 — BA Insight, a leading integrated search software company specializing in Microsoft-based information access technology, today announced the release of Longitude V4.1 for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and FAST Search Server for SharePoint. With the latest release of BA Insight's flagship Longitude product, organizations can now take full advantage of the power of Microsoft's enterprise search technologies by providing users with integrated tools to find and act upon information more efficiently.

BA Insight's Longitude products have been designed to optimize the enterprise search experience and empower users to act upon search results more effectively. Fully integrated into the user interfaces of Microsoft's enterprise search platforms, Longitude v4.1 delivers innovations that can reshape how users search across the enterprise for information, people, and expertise. The new features available in Longitude v4.1 include:

Rapid Document Assembly & Delivery — Provides the ability for end-users to quickly compile information from disparate sources as a direct result of their search activity. Once aggregated, this information can be transformed into any number of formats, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and zip files.

Instant OCR of Previewed Documents — Optical Character Recognition (OCR) analysis on all PDF and TIFF documents at the time of preview empowers users to assess the relevancy of these documents during the search process without the burden of manual review. Longitude's dynamic hit-highlighting and graphical hit-mapping features are available to both text-based files and image-based files.

Instant Preview for SharePoint Lists & Libraries — Instantly preview any item within a List or Library, with the ability to leverage the same document assembly & delivery capabilities available to other search results within the Longitude preview interface.

"IDC has been surveying information workers worldwide since 2001 to find out how much time they spend on a variety of information tasks. Our studies show that assembling information and creating documents consistently ranks second only to email," said Sue Feldman, Vice President Search and Discovery Technologies, IDC. "Searching and analyzing information ranked third on the list, making these tasks relatively straightforward candidates for better automation. BA Insight 's new Document Assembly technology is designed to wring the inefficiency out of these tasks."

The enhancements that Longitude brings to the Microsoft enterprise search stack are not limited only to content stored within Microsoft-based repositories. Using one or more of Longitude's over thirty connectors, organizations can extend the search capabilities of SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010, or FAST Search Server for SharePoint to the industry's most popular Content Management Systems and databases, including EMC Documentum, Oracle Stellent, SAP, OpenText, IBM FileNet, Autonomy Worksite, West KM, and dozens more.
