Author Elaine Stienon published three books that follow the beginnings of Mormons
ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 27, 2012 — From multi-awarded author Elaine Stienon comes three books about the early Mormon events. The Light of the Morning takes a new look at the earliest days of the Church, in narrative form. About the Author
Elaine Burr Stienon grew up in and around Detroit, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan, where she majored in English and American literature. In her senior year, she won a Hopwood award (a prize in creative writing) for a collection of short stories. From her father, a physician, and her mother, a botanist, she acquired a lively interest in the natural world and a compassion for all living things. Nature, wild creatures, and concern for the environment play an important part in her writing.
She has worked seriously as a writer most of her life. Her first published story appeared in a nationally distributed magazine, Literary Cavalcade, when she was 16. Her fiction has been published in literary magazines such as Phoenix, South, Ball State University's Forum, Cimarron Review, The Writers' Journal, and the Bear River Review.
Her novels include Lightning in the Fog and Utah Spring, published by Herald House of Independence, Missouri. Historical novels about early Mormon events are The Light of the Morning, published by Ensign Publishing House, In Clouds of Fire, and The Way to the Shining City, the last two published in collaboration with AuthorHouse.
Most recently, she won the 2011 Flash Fiction Contest sponsored by The Potomac Review. Her winning entry, "Skipping School", will appear in the spring 2012 issue of The Potomac Review.
She currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
