Jim Byrd holds a Series 65 license from NASD and serves as an Investment Advisor Representative. He also holds licenses from the states of Alabama and Florida in the field of insurance. He is a member of the National Ethics Bureau, the Better Business Bureau and serves as Board of Directors member for the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce. With 30 years experience in the financial services industry, Jim Byrd founded Safe Harbor Financial Services, LLC in 2005. A comprehensive wealth management firm serving Southwest Alabama and Northwest Florida, Jim developed his business by nurturing and maintaining close, trusting relationships with each of his clients. Jim Byrd Jim started his successful insurance career in 1982 as an agent with MetLife acquiring Leader's Conference status in the first year and President's Conference the second year rising to #1 agent for the Alabama/Mississippi regions. He was promoted to Field Training Consultant in January, 1984 and became Branch Manager of MetLife's Mobile branch in April, 1984. He opened a separate MetLife branch in Mobile and quickly led his team to a Top Ten Position inclusive of all USA MetLife branches! Jim joined Principal Financial Group in 1997 where he became the #1 Sales Manager in the company. In 2003, Jim left Principal to become a partner with Tom Jones Insurance and Financial Company in Daphne, Alabama where he met Don Moore and soon thereafter (2005), together they opened Safe Harbor Financial Services, LLC. Jim is an Investment Adviser Representative (fee based). A fee based adviser is paid to provide non-biased options on products, strategies and tax solutions. He is currently enrolled in the Charter Financial Consultant Course (CHFC) and anticipates receiving his designation sometime in 2011. Only the top 1% of advisors in the country acquire this designation which represents enhanced education toward retirement planning enabling them to better assist clients to reach their retirement goals. Throughout his career, Jim won numerous awards such as: Leader's Conference, President's Conference as well as industry honors including Million Dollar Round Table and Court of the Table. Jim has also held a number of positions with civic organizations including: President of Airport Metro Kiwanis, President of Mobile Association of Life Underwriters, President of General Agents and Managers Association, Ambassador of the Year (2006) for Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on its Board of Directors. Safe Harbor Financial Services was recently awarded the Small Business of the Year award 2012 from the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce. Jim served as Deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he also enjoyed teaching Sunday school. He gives generously of his time and contributes heavily each year to a variety of charities. Jim and his wife, Jewel, stay busy with their three kids and five grandchildren!
