"Hypnosis is one of the most successful ways to kick the smoking habit. Hypnosis is routinely used in the health care industry as a valued tool, by athletes for performance improvement, by successful business professionals, celebrities, and other high profile individuals for relaxation and stress management," said Eastburn, who has more than 30 years of experience.

Presented by Eastburn Hypnotherapy Center, in conjunction with Regis University and Colorado Free University (CFU), this event is our community's way of honoring those who have served our country and who have asked themselves, "How can I quit smoking?"

"Drake Eastburn has generously provided 'Smoke-Out' hypnosis sessions at Regis for students, faculty, and staff each year during the Great American Smoke-Out month in November," said Peg Maloney, R.S.M., Sister of Mercy, and faculty of Regis University in Denver, CO. "We are thrilled with the outcomes! One employee, after 40 years of smoking—and many years trying to quit—has not smoked one cigarette since attending one of Drake's sessions several years ago. Others have remarked that they smoked for 5-20 years and are finally able to claim they are 'non-smokers' after one group hypnosis session with Drake."

Regis University, a Jesuit Catholic university, embraces a mission of providing excellent education, care for the whole person, service in the community, and the development of leaders working for the common good, locally and globally. An essential element of that mission is promoting better health and wellness among the entire community.

CFU is a community-based organization that offers adult continuing education classes. Eastburn has offered stop smoking groups at CFU since 2001.

"Attendees of all of Drake's classes and workshops at CFU have given him the highest reviews, and his annual smoke-out is a highly anticipated event," said CFU president, Helen Hand, PhD. "[CFU] is proud to partner with Drake because we know that his workshops bring immeasurable value to the community."

Studies show the efficacy of hypnosis for quitting smoking.

"Hypnosis works because it causes physiological change in the brain, making it instantaneously receptive to suggestions for positive change," said Eastburn. "It virtually overrides old neural pathways and creates new ones. Technology such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) has made this more apparent in recent years."

"My initial appointment with Drake was to help with a decades-long smoking habit. After just one session, I not only no longer craved smoking, I started eating better and working out. It was so easy!" said one of Eastburn's satisfied clients, Tim Kerr, of Denver's Centennial Leasing & Sales. "I've referred countless people to Drake, and he has taken excellent care of them."

While working as the Director of Sport Science with the Garmin Pro Cycling Team, sports physiologist, Dr. Allen Lim, brought Eastburn in to help mentally prepare their top athletes.

"We previously used a number of sports psychologists without much success," said Lim. "But, when Drake began working with our riders, we began to see a real and positive shift in the mindset of our team. I asked one of the athletes why everyone preferred working with Drake over our conventional psychologists. He explained that 'Drake immediately changed how we felt and behaved in the present.' For our team, optimal performance was always about looking forward, not behind, and Drake is the best in the business in helping others create a better present and future."

Timmy Duggan, former Olympic Cyclist said, "My work with Drake has been instrumental in installing and implementing the 'internal operating system' of my choosing. I now feel grounded and in control even under the most intense, punishing conditions of world-class sport, returning from my traumatic brain injury, dealing with demands of my new career in real estate, and even in day-to-day life struggles."

Drake Eastburn was featured on the cover of the National Guild of Hypnotists' Journal of Hypnotism in 2009. He has authored six books in the field of hypnotism, several of which are used in hypnotherapy trainings internationally. Drake and his wife, Lynsi, are board certified hypnotherapists and instructors. Together they maintain a local and global clientele, conduct onsite and online certification trainings, and teach classes worldwide.
