ATC Releases Router Marshal(TM), Computer Forensic Software for Automated Router Investigations

ITHACA, N.Y., March 30, 2010 — Motivated by a lack of forensic tools to acquire evidence from network devices in the field, ATC released the Router Marshal forensic tool on March 4, 2010. Router Marshal automatically acquires digital forensic evidence from network devices such as routers and wireless access points. An investigator can use the Router Marshal software in the field to identify a network device, automatically acquire volatile forensic evidence from the device, and view and interpret this evidence.

ATC-NY, a wholly owned subsidiary of Architecture Technology Corporation, developed Router Marshal with the support of a grant from the U.S. National Institute of Justice (NIJ). Working with partners in law enforcement, ATC-NY designed Router Marshal to follow forensic best practices and maintain a detailed log file of all activities it performs. It produces reports in RTF, PDF, and HTML formats, and runs on Windows and Linux-based analysis machines.

The tool is available free of charge to U.S. law enforcement personnel. For more information, visit .
