Argus Systems Group Announces PitBull Secure 2.0 for Linux

Easy to configure and use security at the OS kernel level

SAVOY, Ill., Jan. 23, 2006 — Argus Systems Group today announced the release of PitBull Secure 2.0 for Linux. PitBull Secure is built on the award-winning PitBull Domain Based (LX) technology and offers users the ability to protect Linux systems at the core of the system, from within the kernel. System configuration is greatly simplified.

"PitBull Secure provides our Linux customers with a powerful security product that can protect their assets at the very heart of the architecture – the operating system," said Mikel L. Matthews, Argus CTO. "Our customers increasingly are asking for more robust, flexible, and powerful security to protect critical enterprise servers that are operating in high-stress environments. PitBull Secure 2.0 forms a solid foundation for our partners' network-based architectures."

PitBull Secure 2.0 for Linux is available for immediate purchase. PitBull Secure is also available for Solaris 8 and AIX 5.2. In addition, PitBull Foundation with MLS is available for Solaris 8 and AIX 5.2. AIX 5.2 is evaluated under LSPP at EAL 4+.

PitBull Secure for Linux product highlights include:

-- Support for the Linux 2.6 kernel.

-- Simple installation scripts for SUSE 9.1, 9.3, SLES 9 and
   Red Hat EAS 3.0.

-- Create custom security domains with Read, Write, and
Execute permissions to lock-in and protect your sensitive
   data, and lock-out potential attackers.

-- Kernel-level network rules providing a line of defense at
the ground level against outside attacks, better than
   software firewalls.

-- Privileges and Security Domains for each user. You decide
how much or how little each person can see and do on your
   businesses' most important servers.

-- Lockdown scripts to automate the protection of common
server systems, such as Apache web servers.

-- Runtime security data that helps you monitor and quickly
react to and report system attacks (event counters).

-- Easy-to-use tools to help set up, administer, and analyze
   the security of your system.

-- Protection against system attacks that have not yet been
identified (zero day attacks). PitBull Secure does not
require the use of signatures, behavior patterns, or
suspected anomalies to protect the system.
