American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Announces its 2015-2016 Board of Directors

Armi Holcomb Installed as President, Katrina Bickerstaff as Vice President/President-Elect

CHERRY HILL, N.J., May 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) is pleased to introduce its 2015-2016 Board of Directors, including President Armi Holcomb, BSN, RN, CPAN, and Vice President/President-Elect, Katrina Bickerstaff, BSN, RN, CPAN, CAPA.

Prior to the presidency, Ms. Holcomb served ASPAN in a number of capacities, including as Vice President/President-Elect, member of ASPAN's Standards and Guidelines Committee, Clinical Practice Committee, and the Membership and Marketing Strategic Work Team.

Armi is a PACU/SDS nurse at Children's Mercy Hospital—South (Overland Park, Kansas) a position she has held since 2001. She is responsible for treating patients both in pre-op and post-op settings. The theme she selected for ASPAN's 2015-16 term is: "Renew Perianesthesia Passion: Inspire Excellence," which will culminate at the 35th National Conference in Philadelphia, PA, from April 10-14, 2016.

Ms. Holcomb holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Santo Tomas (Manila, Philippines) and certification as a perianesthesia nurse (CPAN). She and her family reside in Overland Park, KS.

Vice President, Katrina Bickerstaff, will also serve a one-year term, after which she will assume the office of President, as the Society's bylaws stipulate. She looks forward to working with the Board to ensure that ASPAN continues to advance its mission and vision. Ms. Bickerstaff is a Staff Nurse at Brigham and Women's Hospital (Boston, MA), and works in areas including PACU, Same Day Surgery, Preoperative Holding and Evaluation, and the Extended Recovery Unit. She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts (Boston, MA).
