'Mr. Ody Eternal Traveler': A New Twist on an Ancient Greek Epic

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., April 13, 2010 — If you happened upon a weary traveler soaked in salt water in the hills of Southern California, would you believe he was the centuries-old Odysseus of Greek legend? That's the scenario readers will enjoy pondering in "Mr. Ody Eternal Traveler" (published by iUniverse) by Anthony Precopio.

Alex and his wife Camille share an ordinary life with their eight-year-old son Andre in the Santa Monica Mountains above Malibu and Calabasas, California. But a series of life-changing events cause Alex to re-evaluate his priorities and take a summer off from his responsibilities as an accountant.

One morning on a hike in the hills, Alex and Andre happen upon a man who claims to be the Greek hero Odysseus, doomed to wander the world from century to century by the angry sea god Poseidon. Though Alex has his reservations, Andre immediately warms to the man and persuades his father to take the traveler home for a hot meal and warm bath.

After agreeing to keep their new visitor a secret from Camille and the neighbors, Alex and Andre begin introducing Odysseus to the modern world. Soon, however, the trio is swept off on a series of adventures through different times and locations, where they must use their cunning to escape situations reminiscent of those Odysseus himself first faced in the famous "Odyssey."

"Mr. Ody Eternal Traveler" is a clever new take on a classic tale that will delight readers from 8 to 80 years of age. Whether outwitting a one-eyed giant or escaping the wiles of a beautiful enchantress or confronting dead spirits from the Underworld, this story is a fun adventure for all.
