Greater NY Chamber urges city businesses to protect their brand names
NEW YORK, Oct. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Dot NYC, The Internet's newest domain extension has been available for just three weeks and already over 45,000 New Yorkers have secured their names in the new domain name. New York is the first city in the country to get its own domain extension, which is restricted to users with physical addresses in New York City.

The Greater New York Chamber has created a simple registration portal at www.chamber.nyc to help businesses easily secure their .NYC domains and protect their business' reputation. Membership in the Chamber is not required. The Greater New York Chamber will also be spreading the news about .NYC at this week's New York City Business Expo being held at the Javits Center. Drop by and visit booth #350 which they are sharing with .NYC Registrar, EnCirca.
Other .NYC founders include a public-private initiative by the City government itself, with a brand-new portal at www.digital.nyc, which showcases technology and entrepreneurship in the Big Apple. The City has also reserved 400 names for local neighborhoods and have launched a process for community organizations to claim their name at www.neighborhood.nyc.
