Heather Guffin's focus on the future of the timeshare industry prompted the creation of the non-profit Association of Timeshare Recyclers
PHOENIX, Feb. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Heather Guffin is the president and CEO of the ATR (Association of Timeshare Recyclers). Heather launched the non-profit organization in 2012 as a platform to help economically re-stabilize the timeshare industry, and provide solutions to industry defining issues. The most common complaint about timeshare is the difficulty that owners often face whilst trying to sell their property. These obstacles that owners encounter are partially to blame on the low demand for older resort membership which in turn, is also aiding fraudulent businesses who prey upon desperate owners. Heather created the ATR to address and resolve the obvious issue, "why are we losing members to the pitfalls of a flawed system, when we should be increasing not just the fluidity, but also the flexibility of timeshare to raise the appeal and increase functionality." Promoting viable timeshare exit strategies like trade-ins and resale options, effectively recycler's (so to speak) timeshare consumers, keeping the industry economically healthy and flexible.

Heather Guffin aims to use the Association of Timeshare Recyclers as a Launchpad to provide industry-beneficial tools through ATR Membership, and programs such as the HOA (Home Owners Association) Outreach Program.
Heather Guffin´s latest creation is the recently unveiled Timeshare Owners Coalition (TOC). The primary goal of the TOC is to support the endeavours of exit strategy promotion, and make sure that the legal rights of vacation owners are not violated. The ATR not only focuses on educating owners and improving public relations, but also on filtering membership-raised funds into lobbying efforts in order to support the secondary market and the businesses that comprise it.
