With the launch of its Small Business Spotlight Award, the NASBP aims to shine a light on the unique yet often overlooked contributions and achievements that smaller start-ups add to the U.S. economy and the American way of life.

"While you may not have been invited to the capital this week to hobnob with top administration officials and big business leaders for National Small Business Week, we still think you're pretty special and important to the U.S. economy as a whole," said Kimberly Kelly, founder and spokesperson for the NASBP.

"In fact, according to the Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy, of the estimated 27 million small businesses currently operating in America, over 78% are businesses with no employees, over 73% are classified as sole proprietorships and 52% are home-based. Numbers don't lie. What this data is really telling us is that smaller businesses deserve more recognition, help and support from Washington to thrive. Our mission is to provide that help and support. The NASBP Spotlight Award is just one of the many tools that we offer smaller business owners."
