Couture for a Cause Secures Joan Rivers to Host Fourth Annual Runway Event, Raffle Sales Increase and Event Nearly Sold Out

NEW YORK, April 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Couture for a Cause gears up for their fourth annual high-fashion runway show in support of two local charities with the help of legendary TV personality Joan Rivers.

In their effort to maximize their exposure this year, Couture for a Cause co-chairs Esther Silber-Berg, Sharon Langert and Michal Weinstein sought renowned TV personality Joan Rivers, host of E! Networks "Fashion Police," to host the event aptly entitled Joys of Life.

The couture runway production has become one of the most-talked about events in the New York Jewish community, with the guest list nearly doubling since last year's show. To accommodate local fashionistas, Couture for a Cause organizers have decided to move the show to a larger, more extravagant venue than in years prior. VIP attendees will not only score VIP seating at the Joys of Life fashion show, but they can expect to receive an amazing swag bag, entry into exclusive raffles, and admission into a private VIP after-party with a chance to meet the evening's host, Joan Rivers.

"This year's show is going to be one to remember. The designers have put together some of the most amazing collections to date," states Michal Weinstein, co-chair at Couture for a Cause.

The event will include presentations from Zoe Ltd and Raquel Couture. Zoe Ltd specializes in clothing for young girls and has been seen on many Hollywood child stars. In recent years Zoe Ltd has garnered a devoted following and is now available in major department stores, including Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Raquel Couture has become the go-to bridal outlet in New York. While they have become famous for their elegant and lavishly embellished couture gowns, Raquel Couture also offers holiday, cocktail and evening gowns. Raquel Couture has recently expanded into the international market, opening a store in Jerusalem, Israel.

Couture for a Cause has worked hard to ensure the charities are the focus at every event. Every dollar raised at their events goes directly to the charities they are supporting. There is no profit for the hosting organization, which has stayed true to their commitment to helping those less fortunate.

"This year's Joys of Life event will benefit the Shirat Devorah Foundation and the Jewish Kidney Foundation," states Sharon Langert, co-chair at Couture for a Cause. "These organizations are very close to our heart and we are committed to raising as much awareness as we can."

The Shirat Devorah Foundation was started to help a local mother of four named Devorah whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Devorah was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," which affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Devorah has been given 2-4 years to live, as this disease currently has no known cure.

The Jewish Kidney Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives through kidney donation. The foundation assists people suffering from various forms of kidney disease, providing services to both donor and recipient. Their goal is to make the kidney donors' experience as smooth as possible and to provide continuous support through the donation process.

Couture for a Cause is a not-for-profit Jewish organization started by philanthropists and childhood friends Esther Silber-Berg and Michal Weinstein in a concerted effort to bring attention to and aide various charities, both local and abroad. Together they have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charitable organizations since their premier fashion event in 2007.
