Special Needs Group Ends 2013 with Donation of Two Mobility Scooters and a Check for $2500 to Camillus House

Organization Has Provided Non-Profits with $17,500 Worth of Mobility Scooters This Year

As a part of this promise of friendship and assistance, to date, the organization has donated five $2,500 mobility scooters in 2013. On November 20, Special Needs Group made a final 2013 donation of two additional mobility scooters to Camillus House. These donations bring the total number of mobility scooters donated in 2013 to seven, with a total monetary value of $17,500. Previous donations have been made to ARC Broward and Clinics Can Help.

On November 20, Special Needs Group's CEO Andrew Garnett presented two mobility scooters to the residents of Camillus House during a ceremony.  All residents will have access to the scooters.  In addition, Garnett gifted a check of $2500 to the organization's CEO Dr. Paul R. Ahr. Camillus House provides Christian hospitality through direct services of food, clothing, shelter, addiction counseling, behavioral health and job training, and healthcare to South Florida's poor and homeless. Camillus House is located at 1603 Northwest Seventh Avenue, Miami, FL 33136.

ARC Broward, a nationally accredited non-profit organization, provides services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as those with various life challenges also connected Special Needs Group with a young woman in need. Special Needs Group gifted a mobility scooter to Celexia Dixon, who interned as a receptionist at ARC Broward and is confined to a wheelchair.

Clinics Can Help, a non-profit organization based in Palm Beach County that helps children, adults, and the elderly by redistributing surplus medical equipment and supplies, received four mobility scooters from Special Needs Group. Clinics Can Help recipients included Rita Echo (62), who suffers from severe stenosis; Lynda Wynds (67), a stroke survivor; Annette Hill (79), who has osteoarthritis and diabetic neuropathy; and Frances Kelly (79), who has spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis in the legs and knees.
