Sexuality Expert Dr. Rich Blonna Releases Kindle Version of New Sexual Self-Help Book, Will be Guest on: Audrey Chapman Show September 22, 2012

HILLSBOROUGH, N.J., Sept. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Dr. Rich Blonna author, professor, life coach, and sexuality expert will be a guest on the Audrey Chapman radio show live from Washington DC. He will be discussing the theme: "Unleash the Power of Your Sexual Mind." The show will be for one hour (beginning at 8 a.m. ET), live, with callers, and will air on WHUR 96.3 FM and be simulcast on H.U.R. Voices/Sirius XM Channel 141.

The show will feature tips from his new book, Sex-ACT: Unleash the Power of Your Sexual Mind with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Dr. Blonna is the first practitioner to apply Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to improving one's sex life. The book is also available as an e-book published by Kindle version.

Here are examples of the ACT-based tips Dr. Blonna will offer:

1. Accept the way your sexual mind works.

Your mind is like a computer that is on 24/7. Like your computer, your mind constantly runs programs that operate in the foreground and back ground. Your sexual programs are your thoughts, feelings, self-talk, and mental images related to sex.  Rather than try to control, avoid, or eliminate these programs it is better to accept them and shift your focus off of them when they become unhelpful.

2. Stop judging or evaluating your sexual thoughts, feelings, self-talk, and mental images.

Instead of judging whether your sexual thoughts, feelings, self-talk, and mental images are good or bad or right or wrong, assess whether or not they are helpful. Ask yourself the following question:

"Are these sexual thoughts, feelings, self-talk, and mental images helpful or unhelpful in meeting my values-based sexual and relationship goals?"

If they are not helpful it is OK to note their existence and tell yourself; "Since these sexual thoughts, feelings, self-talk, and mental images are not helping me meet my sexual and relationship goals I am going to shift my focus off of them and onto some productive behavior."

3. Don't let your unhelpful sexual thoughts, feelings, self-talk, and mental images drive your behavior.

Your unhelpful sexual thoughts, feelings, self-talk, and mental images do not have to drive your behavior. You can control how you behave in relation to them. Just because your mind tells you something does not mean you have to follow its advice if it is in conflict with your values and goals.
