LIVE! 2014 to Feature RFID Institute Certification, Fast-Track Training Courses

RFID Journal's 12th annual conference and exhibition will offer attendees the chance to become RFID Institute–certified, and to be trained in RFID deployments and applications development.

NEW YORK, March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — RFID Journal announced today that the International RFID Institute will hold its first certification examination at RFID Journal LIVE! 2014, while RFID4U will offer two fast-track RFID training courses at the event. LIVE! 2014, the world's premier conference and exhibition focused on radio frequency identification (RFID) and its many business applications, will be held on Apr. 8-10, at the Orange County Convention Center, located in Orlando, Fla.

The International RFID Institute was founded in 2012 to develop standardized certification examinations to promote professionalism in the RFID industry. The organization will launch the RFID Institute Certified Associate exam at this year's LIVE! conference, enabling attendees to be among the first to receive certification.

RFID4U's two training courses, Fast-Track RFID Deployment Training and Fast-Track RFID Applications Developers Training, are both part of the company's Fast-Track series, and will provide attendees with practical, hands-on training for implementing RFID, through lectures and laboratory exercises.

Fast-Track RFID Deployment Training—a one-day skill camp, featuring the latest equipment and relevant scenarios—will provide a solid foundation to design, install, configure, monitor and troubleshoot RFID deployments at small and medium-sized businesses and enterprise installations. The course, combining lectures and hands-on lab exercises, will provide a functional understanding regarding the use of readers, tags, printers and general-purpose input-output (GPIO) devices.

Fast-Track RFID Applications Developers Training, an instructor-led course, teaches software application developers how to build the next generation of rich, interactive RFID applications for passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) RFID readers and peripherals. Hands-on exercises provided throughout the course are designed to offer students an opportunity to gain practical experience with the skills and concepts covered during the lectures, and demonstrate how to optimally capture reads in different scenarios, such as those involving conveyor belts, door portals, forklifts and handheld devices.

In addition, participants will learn how to make decisions regarding performance and scalability, by selecting native application programming interfaces (APIs), including vendors' software development kits (SDKs), versus middleware. Furthermore, participants will understand various structures, such as ROSpec, AISpecs, AccessSpec and RFSurveySpec, available via EPCglobal's Low-Level Reader Protocol (LLRP).Participants will be provided with hands-on experience with the latest RFID devices and cutting-edge RFID labs.

LIVE! 2014 will also feature four industry-specific and four how-to conference tracks, as well as eight in-depth preconference seminars and workshops, four post-conference seminars, the RFID Journal Awards, the Coolest Demo Contest and a co-located event, IEEE RFID 2014. In addition, the conference will offer exhibits and demonstrations conducted by more than 200 of the industry's leading technology firms. For more information, visit www.rfidjournalevents.com/live.
