Dream Big America Announces October Startup Contestants

Nine vetted startups from across country competing for champion title.

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Dream Big America (www.DreamBigAmerica.us) powered by Sprint (www.Sprint.com), the first-ever "reality radio show" hosting a weekly startup pitch competition, reveals all nine startups competing in October's bracket-style competition.

The first week of October's month-long competition included msPad, Bracket Wallet and Santa-Signal, all of which pitched live on the Dream Big America show on October 3rd. The msPad, invented by Sandy Ingold of Crestline, CA, is a small, plug-in keypad simplifying data entry for medical professionals. Bracket Wallet, founded by Chase Larsen of Salt Lake City, UT, is a thin, aluminum and carbon fiber wallet designed for active and adventurous lifestyles. Santa-Signal, invented by Erik Knear of Riverside, CA, is a sound and light system that generates the lights and sounds of Santa Claus and his reindeer. Santa-Signal received the highest number of votes during the first week, and will advance to the Finals Round on October 24th.

On Friday, October 10th, three more startups pitched their business ventures on Dream Big America to the national listening audience. These three companies included Recovery Pledge, Cool Down Now, and Hanger Hideaway. Recovery Pledge, founded by Christopher Girdwood of Valencia, CA, connects small businesses with customers immediately after a disaster to stabilize communities.

Cool Down Now, invented by Robert Morrison of Charlotte, NC, is a personal cooling system. Finally, Hanger Hideaway, invented by Renee Bentley of Meridian, ID, is a patented hanger storage solution. Hanger Hideaway secured the highest number of votes last week, and will also advance to the Finals Round on October 24th.

Tomorrow, three more startups pitch live on the Dream Big America Show. These startups include Darn Good Yarn, Alas Design, and SYNEK Draft System. Darn Good Yarn, founded by Nicole Snow of Schenectady, NY, brings connection to crafting by employing women in India to handcraft yarns from reclaimed materials. Alas Design, founded by Angelica Alas of Phoenix, AZ designed the High Heel Wrap for both style and comfort. SYNEK founded by Michel Werner of St. Louis, MO, is a patent-pending draft system for beer and other beverages.

Supporters have the opportunity to vote for their favorite startup on the Dream Big America website or by texting 'DBA' to 612-22-DREAM (612-223-7326). The voting period ends Wednesday, October 22nd at midnight ET. The startup that receives the highest number of votes will join Santa-Signal and Hanger Hideaway in the Finals Round on October 24th.
