Debbie's Dream Foundation Raises Awareness in November for Curing Stomach Cancer Month

Non-profit organization runs down events in November to get involved in the fight against stomach cancer

DAVIE, Fla., Nov. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) holds stomach cancer events and raises awareness about gastric cancer all year long, but what makes November such a special time is that it is Curing Stomach Cancer Month. No matter what activity or event someone participates in, DDF encourages families and friends to raise awareness and funds for stomach cancer. It's easy to get involved in the events that DDF will host throughout the month of November or to host your own event.

  • International Stomach Cancer Jeans Day: On Friday, November 15, 2013, participants can pay $5.00 to wear their favorite jeans in honor of Curing Stomach Cancer Month.  Whether it's wearing jeans to work, school, lunch with friends, or anywhere in the world, this event helps raise awareness as well as funds for stomach cancer research. People are encouraged to have their friends, co-workers, bosses, teachers, etc. participate as well. All proceeds collected will go to Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer.
  • Nutrition Webinars: DDF will hold two free Nutrition Webinars on Wednesday, November 6, at 7 p.m., and on Wednesday, November 20, at 7 p.m. Each webinar will be an hour long, available worldwide, led by Oncology-Certified Registered Dieticians, and will include a Q&A session with stomach cancer survivors, including Debbie's Dream Foundation President & Founder Debbie Zelman.
  • 3rd Annual DC Cocktails & Cupcakes: DDF is proud to announce its third annual Cocktails & Cupcakes to help raise awareness and funds for stomach cancer. The event will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Recording Industry Association of America. Attendees can enjoy inspired cocktails, decadent sweets, live music by the Pietasters, and a chance to win fabulous raffle prizes including 7 nights luxury Caribbean resort accommodations at St. James Club in Antigua. The event starts at 8:30 p.m. and lasts until 10:30 p.m.  Tickets are $40 per person, $75 for two, and $30 for college and graduate students.

"We hope patients, families, friends, businesses, and organizations get involved and show their support," said Debbie Zelman, President and Founder of Debbie's Dream Foundation. "Whenever someone spreads the word or makes a donation for stomach cancer, it can truly make a difference not just during the month of November, but also throughout the entire year."

Debbie Zelman founded the organization in 2009 after being diagnosed with stage IV gastric (stomach) cancer. Debbie's Dream Foundation seeks as its ultimate goal to bring attention and action to this important cause. The organization encourages people to spread the word about early detection and screening because if someone is diagnosed at an early stage, the chances of being cured dramatically increase.
