This year participants in the DDF Dream Team will be running in honor of or in memory of cancer patients. Anyone can donate to the DDF Dream Team runners if they want their loved ones' names on the front or back of the DDF running shirts.

"This is our 5th year having a Dream Team in the Miami Marathon & Half Marathon, and we know it will be our biggest and best team yet," said Debbie Zelman, President and Founder of Debbie's Dream Foundation. "The DDF Dream Team has grown tremendously over the past few years and I, along with many other volunteers, will be there to support our participants who are helping to advance our cause and honor cancer patients."

"Being on our team comes with some pretty awesome perks," said Mary-Margaret Killmeyer, DDF's Miami Marathon Co-Chair.  Members of the DDF Dream Team will receive several complimentary benefits including a DDF race shirt, a training program with tips, race packet pick-up if requested, and a Kick-Off Party happy hour. The Dream Team Miami Marathon Kick-Off Party will take place on Friday, January 23, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Plantation. "In addition to the complimentary happy hour, teammates will also receive food, beverages, goodies and complimentary massages at the DDF Friends & Family Tent at the race finish line," Mary-Margaret said.

Once a runner or walker has joined the DDF Dream Team, team members can start fundraising for the organization. DDF encourages each member to set a minimum goal of $250. If a member raises $1,000, DDF will reimburse their full registration fee.

Debbie Zelman founded DDF in 2009 after being diagnosed with Stage IV incurable gastric cancer. Debbie's Dream Foundation seeks as its ultimate goal to bring attention and action to this important cause. The organization encourages people to spread the word about early detection and screening because if a patient is diagnosed at an early stage, the chances of being cured dramatically increase.

Registration information to join the DDF Dream Team is at www.debbiesdream.org/portal/miami-marathon. If you know anyone who has already registered for the race but would like to switch to the DDF Dream Team, please email his or her name and date of birth to our Event Manager, Jenna Reed, at Events@DebbiesDream.org or call (954) 475-1200.
