Bechtel Added to Impressive Keynote Lineup at RFID Journal LIVE! 2014

The 12th annual conference and exhibition will be held on Apr. 8-10, in Orlando, Fla.

NEW YORK, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — RFID Journal announced today that Bechtel will be featured during a keynote session at RFID Journal LIVE! 2014 (www.rfidjournalevents.com/live), the world's premier conference and exhibition focused on radio frequency identification (RFID) and its many business applications.
This year's LIVE! event will be held on Apr. 8-10, at the Orange County Convention Center, located in Orlando, Fla.

Edward Koch, Bechtel's automation specialist and software product manager, will detail how the global engineering, construction and project-management company is employing RFID technology to track materials as they move through a complex localized supply chain, helping it to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in material handling at the construction sites of three mega-sized industrial projects.

The three major Bechtel projects sit side by side in Queensland, Australia, with three separate owners. Attendees will learn how the use of an RFID solution is a key component in meeting the demanding construction schedule. What's more, they will find out how utilizing RFID for material management has increased labor productivity, reduced indirect labor costs and improved work planning, enabling Bechtel to more efficiently execute the required construction processes.

Koch joins a roster of four other keynote presenters:

  • Kim Philips, Marks & Spencer's head of packaging, and Richard Jenkins, the company's RFID programme head, who will share how RFID is helping the leading U.K. retailer to better manage inventory and reduce out-of-stocks
  • Carlo K. Nizam, Airbus' head of value chain visibility, who will discuss how his firm is deploying RFID across the value chain to streamline operations and build airplanes more cost-effectively
  • Kimberly Brayley, the director of the Veterans Health Administration's RTLS Project Management Office, who will explain how the VA is using RFID-based real-time location systems at medical centers and community clinics to better manage hospital equipment and supplies
  • Rear Admiral David F. Baucom, U.S. Transportation Command's director of strategy, policy and logistics, who will outline the Department of Defense's use of RFID to track shipments and improve supply chain execution

"These five great keynotes show how RFID is benefiting organizations across the construction, manufacturing, defense, health-care and retail sectors," said Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "These are some of the largest and most ambitious RFID deployments in the world, and our audience will gain a wealth of insights from hearing what works in their industry and others."

LIVE! 2014 will also feature four industry-specific and four how-to conference tracks, as well as eight in-depth preconference seminars and workshops, four post-conference seminars, fast-track training presented by RFID4U, the RFID Journal Awards, the Coolest Demo Contest and a co-located event, IEEE RFID 2014.

In addition, the conference will offer exhibits and demonstrations conducted by more than 200 of the industry's leading technology firms. Attendees registering early will have the opportunity to save more than $600 off regular rates for the RFID industry's most important conference and exhibition.
