Baseball Revives Mystic Town After a Grueling Civil War

Author writes an engaging novel about his two loves: Civil War and baseball

HELLERTOWN, Pa., March 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — It's kind of sad that baseball today has become mired in self-serving narcissistic egos more concerned with personal wealth and agenda than with the game that should be thought of as a privilege to play. Author Peter Lamana invites readers to take a peek behind the veil of history to an age when baseball was in its infancy, played by simple people during a simple time. Mystic: A Small Town From Base Ball's Yesterday offers a feel-good story about life and communal spirit that grabs the heart of the readers and transports them to a time when life was simpler, and baseball was untarnished by big business.

The Civil War is finally over, and the survivors have returned to their lives to try to rebuild. However, something has come to Mystic with the survivors – a game called Base Ball. As the residents of Mystic struggle to establish their own Base Ball club, they discover that Base Ball is taking over the nation by storm. With a faithful group of town leaders, a retired Judge, and several veterans, Mystic finds that it is ahead of the storm, instead of getting caught up in it. But when the captain of the Drummers contacts the Mystic team with a request to come to play a fun exhibition game on the Fourth of July, the initial thought was one of reservation as the Drummers were a traveling team of colored players.
