Autonomic Resources and Akamai Technologies Layer FedRAMP Offerings for Unprecedented Control in Public Sector IT

CARY, N.C., March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Autonomic Resources, a government-only Cloud Service Provider, announced today it has joined forces with a fellow Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Joint Authorization Board (JAB) Provisionally Authorized provider, Akamai Technologies. Together they are offering solutions designed to provide unprecedented control and security for cloud-based agency data and systems with their "end-to-end" FedRAMP cloud offerings. This partnership expands Autonomic's FedRAMP JAB authorized cloud offerings for all federal, state, and local government customers utilizing the Autonomic Resources Cloud Platform (ARC-P). These CSPs have come together to establish a fortified solution constructed of unique offerings from both Autonomic and Akamai's extensive service catalogs.

Autonomic customers can be assured that Akamai services, such as application performance optimization, DDoS mitigation, web application security, and management via the Akamai portal, can be used in conjunction with Autonomic's cloud services while maintaining FedRAMP compliance. Government users can now be confident that they are fully embracing the "Cloud First" policy and are able to reach all the potentials cloud computing offers the public sector.

By combining Autonomic and Akamai's FedRAMP authorized solutions, the companies can bring cost effective, compliant, secure, and innovative cloud platforms, along with additional performance optimization and web security, to government agencies. Aligning these offerings streamlines the government's path to leveraging secure, provisionally authorized cloud infrastructures that meet federal development needs. Together with Akamai Technologies, Autonomic can provide application performance metrics, availability SLA metrics to Internet end points, and other key real-time metrics. No other cloud provider's solution offers this visibility from data center to user point of access on-site.

"We're excited to see the increased use of FedRAMP authorizations, not only from federal agencies but now between Cloud Service Providers to enhance the overall suite of services the Federal Government can use," said Matt Goodrich, FedRAMP Program Manager at the General Services Administration. "Collaboration like this goes to the heart of the "do once use many time framework" of FedRAMP, helping to create a robust marketplace for secure cloud computing services for the US Government."

"We fully expect our customers to benefit from the high-level security and performance of Akamai's solution stood up in front of Autonomic's existing infrastructure," said James Bowman, Government Compliance Director at Autonomic Resources. "The potential for agencies' increased information security and control is exponential."

The Autonomic Resources Cloud Platform (ARC-P) was granted a government-wide Authority to Operate (ATO) at the FISMA Moderate Impact Level in December 2011 via the GSA IaaS Certification and Authorization process. ARC-P was accepted for FedRAMP processing in July 2012 and received the first Provisional ATO from the FedRAMP JAB in December 2012. In April 2013 ARC-P received the first Department of Defense Provisional Authorization for the ARC-P IaaS platform. Autonomic plans to seek FedRAMP authorizations for all services services not currently authorized over the next Fiscal Year.

"As government computing efforts continue to become more 'cloud focused' it's important that Federal IT staffs have confidence that their applications are designed to be as highly performing and secure as possible," explained Tom Ruff, Vice President, Public Sector, Akamai Technologies. "The ability to rely on an 'end-to-end' FedRAMP compliant solution is one way to make this happen. We believe this end-to-end solution will help agencies not only enhance their security posture but also see additional SLA's that begin at the edge and a much improved end user experience."

Akamai received a Provisional Authority to Operate (P-ATO) from the Joint Authorization Board (JAB) of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) in August of 2013. Agencies can leverage Akamai cloud services through Autonomic Resources as a front-end FedRAMP compliant data center solution. This model offers a unique "end-to-end" FedRAMP compliant solution that makes it easier for agencies to use shared cloud services in support of their cloud computing initiatives.
